I was born in Washington, DC, grew up in Kansas and moved to Portland in 1994 to go to law school. I was admitted to practice in Oregon in 1997 and learned the ropes while I worked for two prominent Portland injury lawyers. In December, 1998, I started my own office, and in January, 2000, started running the business as a professional corporation, or PC. In late 2001 I hired my first assistant, and the business continues to grow.
For over 10 years, I have represented clients in bodily injury claims resolved at trial and before litigation. My philosophy about practicing law as a trial lawyer is this: keep it simple, talk like a normal person, use honey instead of vinegar, stay realistic about the strong and weak points of every case, and be prepared for trial if no reasonable offers are made. I bring that same philosophy and work ethic to representing business law clients.
Good decision making and quality advocacy earned a reputation good enough to get case referrals from other lawyers. I look forward to applying those skills to every client's case.
The firm started in late 1998 as a sole proprietorship and converted into a professional corporation in 2000. In late 2001, the corporation hired its first non-attorney staff, and the practice continues to grow.
In 2006, we began offering services for small and medium sized businesses for businiess formation and litigation. Please visit our Business Law website.
